Ranger Performance
The Ranger comes with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a slick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine accelerates quickly and offers plenty of power for towing and hauling, as well as a smooth ride for passenger comfort.
Properly equipped, the Ranger can tow up to 7,500 pounds and offers a payload between 1,430 and 2,080 pounds. Four people can sit comfortably in the extended-cab model, while the crew-cab model accommodates five people. Both the front and rear positions offer ample head- and legroom for passengers to stretch out on long rides.
Numerous features are available to enhance the cabin, such as remote start and dual-zone climate control. Other features include heated seats and premium leather upholstery. You can also add cargo convenience features like a drop-in bed liner and an in-bed 12-volt power outlet.
Ranger Technology and Safety Features
The base Ranger model comes with a MyKey® system, which uses an app to remotely access and start your vehicle. The next model in the lineup includes the SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, giving you access to music and media on the go. Satellite radio, navigation, and a premium sound system are also available.
For safety features, the Ranger includes forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, a feature that alerts you to potential frontal collisions and applies the brakes to lessen the impact. Several features are available, including front and rear parking sensors and cruise control. You can also add adaptive cruise control, a feature that lets you set the distance from the car ahead on cruise control to stay with the flow of traffic, and blind-spot monitoring, a feature that monitors the area around your vehicle and alerts you to nearby vehicles when you’re changing lanes or reversing.
